ECB 50+ County Championship Final Report

The ECB 50+ County Championship Final took place on Sunday 9th September at Kibworth Cricket Club between Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bat first and started well getting 64 runs on the board before the first wicket fell as Kevin Bradley was lbw to G Bolton for 33. The other opener Nick Gaywood scored 55 and the runs kept coming with number 3 and 4, Babar Butt (40) and Stephen Foster (66*) pushing Yorkshire on to 168-3 and then 211-5. As the end of the innings came closer Steven Dearden (3-49) and P Deakin (3-51) took wickets to limit Yorkshire to 228-9 from their 45 overs.  

Lancashire got off to worst possible start losing C Lord lbw for 2 to Mohammed Shahnawaz. D Pearson (20) and Mark Fallon (23) were able to put a partnership together but things soon got worse as Stephen Foster took 3 crucial wickets as Lancashire fell to 54-5. P Deakin (23*) put up some resistance but Stephen Booth (3-27) chipped in with 3 wickets as Lancashire were bowled out for 103 giving the win and title to Yorkshire by 125 runs.

The Man of the Match was awarded to Stephen Foster of Yorkshire for his 66* & 3-17. It’s also worth mentioning his average for Yorkshire’s over 50’s this season is 328!

Lancashire           103 all out (38.5 overs)
